Setting Up Homeschool (while managing ADD)

Setting Up Homeschool While Managing ADDAs I was organizing our curriculum, books and supplies this past weekend, I spent a lot of time reflecting on our earlier days of homeschooling. The days when I had a special area all set up for learning, and my pie in the sky dreams often came crashing down around me…

The dreams of warm and sunny afternoons with a happy learner, eagerly reciting a perfect multiplication table, and energetically diving into her science text like it was the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book.

I used to believe that curbing the tendencies of distraction and wiggliness that accompanied my daughters ADD was as simple as teaching her how to behave like the un-ADD-affected kids. It’s taken me some time, but I’m starting to figure a few things out, and one thing I know for sure is that chaining my daughter to a desk is the opposite of what she really needs.

I’m sharing all about this over at Tales of a Pee Dee Mama today.
