Our Canadian neighbors have a problem. In British Columbia (on the West Coast, bordering the States of Washington and Alaska, and the Pacific Ocean), the teachers have gone on strike with their provincial government. Schools in Canada are funded and operated by the provinces, and contracts must be agreed upon at that level. Sometimes, the teachers and the government just can’t get on the same page when contract season comes around.
Regardless of why this awful situation is happening, parents are facing weeks without schooling for their children. We anticipate that many of these parents will be trying to homeschool in the next few weeks, or possibly for the rest of the year (or longer). As homeschooling parents, we know how scary the beginning of this process will be, so today I’m hosting a linkup for middle and high school families.
